So what makes Christmas, really Christmas to you? Is it the family traditions? Is it the road trip to tree lots? Could it be the bonding with friends while you’re hanging Christmas lights and ornaments on the tree? How about Christmas caroling?
Its so easy to make a fake “Christmas” because of the all the Christmas parties, events and traditions that we wrap our life with; causing the real meaning of Christmas fade into the background.
Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ (Jesus’ birthday); born in the manger, taking on human flesh (a child) to be closer to us, relating to us and really with us. God had a purpose in His agenda; it wasn’t by accident…
“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” ~2 Timothy 1:9-19
“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). ~Matthew 1:22-23
Christmas isn’t just a holiday for people or organizations to claim nor to have as their own…. Christmas has a meaning and purpose that connects a story to others, that can relate and/or feel a common connection with. Why do we celebrate Veterans day? Fourth of July? What’s the meaning and purpose of that particular day….
Define it: Do you have a story to relate to, that draws you, connects you to the meaning and purpose of Christmas? Is your story lost with in the Christmas traditions, fading into the background?here are people you know (perhaps yourself) that have a story that relates and connects
